In short: Papergraph stores the data needed to authenticate your account and save your projects securely. It does not sell your data, track you for advertising, or monetize your personal information.

What Papergraph is

Papergraph is an open-source browser tool that helps you organize and visualize research literature. It provides the software used to create and manage your research graphs.

Data we collect

Papergraph stores only the information needed to provide the product.

When you sign in with Google OAuth:

  • Email address: used to create and identify your account
  • Username: displayed in your profile
  • Profile picture: displayed in your profile

When you use Papergraph:

  • Project data: article metadata, graph structure, connections, and visual organization
  • User preferences: application settings and customizations
  • Session data: authentication tokens used to keep you signed in securely

If you sign in with GitHub or email, we collect equivalent account information through those authentication providers.

How we use your data

  • Authentication: to create and manage your Papergraph account
  • User identification: to associate your projects and saved state with your account
  • Profile display: to show your username and avatar in the interface
  • Core product functionality: to save, sync, and display your research projects

We do not:

  • use your data for advertising or behavioral profiling
  • sell your personal information
  • share your project data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • track you outside of core application functionality

Papergraph’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Storage and security

Papergraph stores data in Supabase with standard protections in place.

  • Encryption: data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Row level security: database access is scoped so users can access only their own data
  • Isolated storage: projects and preferences are separated by account

Third-party services

Papergraph relies on third-party services for authentication and infrastructure, including Supabase, Google, and GitHub. Their own privacy policies may also apply when you use those services.

Your control

You can stop using the service at any time. If you need assistance with account or data requests, use the project support channels listed below.
